THE CHINMAYA MISSION
A global organisation with over 300 centres round the world engaged in spiritual, self-development, educational and social services.
The word Chinmaya means ‘true Knowledge’. Chinmaya Mission is an organisation where seekers of Truth come together to acquire and impart the ancient teachings of the Upanishads.
Chinmaya Mission® was established in India in 1953 by devotees of the world-renowned Vedanta teacher, His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda. Guided by his vision, devotees all around the world formed the nucleus of a spiritual renaissance movement that now encompasses a wide range of spiritual, educational, and charitable activities, ennobling the lives of thousands in India and across its borders. Presently, headed by His Holiness Swami Swaroopananda, the Mission is administered by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust (CCMT) in Mumbai, India. Under his guidance, the Mission has continued mushrooming across the globe and stands today with over 300 centres worldwide.
Chinmaya Mission was formed in the year 1953 by devotees of Swami Chinmayanandaji to give organisational structure and cohesiveness to the work and the activities being initiated by Swami Chinmayanandaji.
After the Mahasamadhi of Swami Chinmayanandaji in 1993, H.H. Swami Tejomayanandaji became the Head of Chinmaya Mission – Worldwide. Presently headed by His Holiness Swami Tejomayanandaji, the Mission is administered by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust (CCMT) in Mumbai, India.
Under Swami Tejomayanandaji’s – (Head of Chinmaya Mission – Worldwide) guidance, the Mission has continued mushrooming across the universe and stands today with over 300 centres worldwide.
